Your Launchpad Into Recovery
COPAC is located on a 23-acre rural campus near Brandon, Mississippi, east of Jackson. Tree-lined paths, homey residences, and an old-fashioned chapel with stained-glass windows greet you as you enter our campus through sturdy iron gates and rows of protective oak trees.
An onsite pond and the nearby Ross Barnett Reservoir invite themes of water and their healing attributes. We regularly draw upon our surroundings as metaphors for recovery. When the weather is nice, we like to take things outdoors. Whether clients come to us from a big city or a small town, they invariably say they find a peaceful, spiritual presence here.
Features of our center include:
- Gender-separate residences and facilities
- Home-like bungalows with kitchens, bedrooms, living areas and comfortable gathering areas
- Separate medical detox center
- Ropes course
- Newly renovated workout room with nautilus equipment, elliptical, free weights and stationary bicycles
- Basketball, tennis and volleyball courts
- Old-fashioned chapel with stained glass windows representing different religions
- Pond and nearby reservoir
- Picnic tables and resting areas
- Professionally landscaped shrubbery and lawns
- Administrative offices and individual and group meeting rooms
- Recreational areas
- Designated smoking areas
Our campus is a retreat away from life’s stressors, but we’re only 20 minutes away from Jackson-Evers International Airport (JAN – Jackson, MS) so travel to and from our location is convenient for all.
Comfortable Environment That Supports Recovery
Our men’s and women’s facilities are separate and on opposite sides of the campus. This arrangement helps you focus on yourself and prevents distractions that can take you away from your recovery. You’ll feel comfortable being vulnerable and sharing about difficult topics in an accepting, gender-separate treatment environment.
You’ll live in a comfortable bungalow with a small group of peers sharing similar issues. Your housing assignment and housemates are intentionally chosen to provide you the most opportunities for support and growth. Each bungalow has a full, open kitchen, dining room, welcoming living area with warm décor, bedrooms and full bathrooms. Outside, you’ll find BBQ pits and grills in case you and your housemates decide to cook and eat outside on occasion.
Within this setting, you’ll have ongoing opportunities to practice real-world recovery skills. You’ll navigate interpersonal issues that surface among people sharing a living space. There will be plenty of laughter, support and close bonds as well. You’ll plan your own meals, including budgeting for them. Each week designated housemates will shop for groceries and you’ll all be responsible for preparing meals. Daily chores and responsibilities are part of your living experience as well. We prepare you to thrive in the situations you’ll return to when you leave COPAC.
